Formula & Explanation
Compound interest grows your principal by adding interest back into the balance each period:
A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t)
Where P is principal, r is the annual interest rate, n is the compounding frequency per year, and t is time in years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Compound interest is interest calculated on both the initial principal and the accumulated interest from previous periods, causing your money to grow faster than with simple interest.
The more frequently interest compounds (monthly vs annually), the higher the effective return, since interest is added to the principal more often.
It applies to any investment or deposit that compounds at a fixed rate. For market-linked investments like mutual funds, actual returns vary and are not guaranteed.
Simple interest is calculated only on the principal, while compound interest is calculated on the principal plus previously earned interest, resulting in exponential growth over time.
